Search teams find body of missing bridge jumper

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After eight days of searching, multiple search and rescue teams found the body of a Scottsville man who went missing after he jumped from the College Street pedestrian bridge.

Search teams found Kaleb Short, 28, in a portion of the river behind Wayne Supply on Louisville Road.

Short and a friend jumped from the bridge on the afternoon of May 1, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Resources Officer Brad Bowles said.

Short told his friend he had jumped from the bridge before. But he had not jumped from the bridge that day, Bowles said.

Short and a friend jumped into the river. His friend swam to shore. Short never surfaced. His friend called first responders.

At about 3 p.m. Saturday, search and rescue personnel from several agencies used a sonar device and found Short’s body, Warren County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Pearson said.
