Search for missing Sumner County, TN teen continues in Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WSMV, WNKY) – The search continues for a missing autistic teen from Sumner County, Tennessee, but now investigators are making their way to the Commonwealth for some potential clues.

15-year-old Sebastian Rogers is still missing, and now crews are making sure no stone is left unturned by investigating the Hopkins County Regional Landfill. It’s about an hour and a half outside of Bowling Green.

This is where officials say the trash from Sebastian’s Sumner County neighborhood ends up.

The garbage in his neighborhood is collected on Monday mornings, the same morning Sebastian was first discovered missing 10 days ago.

Over a dozen investigators were combing through the dirt and debris earlier today, mainly looking in the front portion of the landfill.

They are also using an excavator to dig up that same area. Officials say no evidence or information indicates Sebastian could be there.

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office says this is a precautionary measure to eliminate any possible questions and options.

While officials have not indicated that they believe Sebastian could be in South Central Kentucky, the Sheriff’s office urges you to continue looking for him. If you have any information, you can contact any of these officials:

Detective Carter with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office: 615-442-1865, bcarter@sumnersheriff.com.

Agent Simmons with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation: 1-800-TBI-FIND, TipsToTBI@tbi.tn.gov.

Sumner County Sheriff’s Office: 615-451-3838.

You can also check any surveillance footage or trail cameras you may have, focusing on any footage between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Any detail, no matter how small, could help in finding him.

Of course, continue to search inside, under and around any areas where a child might seek shelter or could become trapped.

News 40 will continue to follow this investigation and bring you any updates we may find.
