Scottsville woman allegedly steals checkbook, forges victim’s name to deposit

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville woman faces criminal charges after allegedly stealing checks.
According to a social media post, the Scottsville Police Department responded to E Cherry Street to a report of a theft on Friday, March 13.
The victim told police that their checkbook was stolen and the suspect forged their name to deposit several checks.
During the investigation, officers identified 50-year-old Babs Maw, of Scottsville, as the suspect.
Maw was arrested and lodged at the Allen County Jail.
Maw is charged with second-degree forgery, theft of mail matter and theft by deception – cold checks.
The investigation is ongoing.
