Scottsville Police host ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ event to support Allen County students ahead of 2025 school year

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – With the first day of school just around the corner for Allen County students, the Scottsville Police Department is stepping in to help families get ready.

Monday morning, officers hosted a ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ event to collect school supplies for students in need. The initiative was held at two locations: the Dollar General Market across from Allen County High School and the historic Dollar General store in downtown Scottsville.

Community members were invited to stop by and donate essential school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other classroom necessities. The items collected will be distributed to students throughout the county, ensuring that every child starts the school year prepared.

Hannah Erwin, the family resource coordinator for Allen County Primary Center, says the event helps ease the burden on families during a busy time of year.

“It’s really just an amazing way to help our kids as we start back to school, but also just take a little bit of stress off those parents as we’re getting back into the swing of things,” Erwin said. “They know that their students’ needs will be met as soon as they walk through those doors. We have everything they need to get the year started.”

Allen County students officially return to class on Thursday.
