Scottsville man arrested on 2nd DUI charge

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man has been charged with driving under the influence in Allen County.

According to a uniform citation, the Scottsville Police Department clocked 36-year-old Jeremy Brown of Scottsville traveling at 95 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on Veterans Memorial Highway on Wednesday evening.

Police say they observed Brown turn into a Five Star gas station on Commerce Drive.

While attempting to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, police say Brown got out and continued to walk toward the gas station.

Police say he disregarded commands.

According to the citation, an officer followed Brown into the gas station and grabbed his arm, asking him to go outside with him.

Police say Brown smelled strongly of alcoholic beverage. Brown stated he consumed around six alcoholic beverages before returning to town, authorities say.

Following standard field sobriety tests, police say they found an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, along with several other alcoholic beverages.

Brown was transported to the Allen County Detention Center on charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second offense (aggravated circumstances) and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited. He has since been released.
