Scottsville man almost crashes into officer head-on, flees police

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man has been arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase.
The Scottsville Police Department says the vehicle was driving at 98 miles per hour in a 55-miles-per-hour zone early Sunday morning.
An officer says the vehicle operator almost struck the officer head-on at 105 miles per hour.
The officer continued the pursuit and the vehicle reached speeds of 126 miles per hour. The vehicle was traveling in the opposite lane and shoulders of the road. The vehicle pursuit continued for a short time and the officer initiated a traffic stop at the 700 block of New Gallatin Road.
The officer says the vehicle operator, Charles Creaney, 35 of Scottsville, was leaning toward the door and there was a heavy smell of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle. The officer removed Creaney from the vehicle due to his behavior. Creaney was unable to stand.
During the investigation, police say Creaney admitted to drinking and he was leaving work. Creaney told officers he did not see the officer.
Creaney was transported to the Allen County Detention Center.
Creaney is charged with speeding 26 mph or > speed limit, fleeing or evading police, 1st degree, wanton endangerment-1st degree-police officer, reckless driving, and operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (189a.010(1a) – 1st (agg cir).
