Schools close to in-person learning due to dangerous flooding conditions
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Because of all the rain over the weekend, a handful of school districts in this region closed Monday to in-person instruction out of an abundance of caution.
School districts including the Warren, Metcalfe, Barren and Edmonson County schools along with others transitioned to all virtual instruction Monday.
This is because some roadways have become very dangerous to travel on due to flooding which can be especially dangerous in rural counties like Metcalfe county.
Metcalfe County High School Principal Clint Graham said this past year has taught educators to be flexible, which was useful in Monday’s situation.
“I think in this year in education, the biggest thing is that we have to realize flexibility is key. No matter if it’s flooding or if it’s COVID, it’s important that we realize we need to meet the needs of our kids wherever they’re at,” Graham said.
