Salvation Army hosts lunch and learn to share about their services
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Salvation Army held a lunch and learn session Thursday to bullet point all of the different ways that the non-profit benefits the area and to ask the community to partner with them.
The Salvation Army is located on West Main Avenue in Bowling Green and has 77 beds for those experiencing homeless to use.
But that is not all the shelter does.
They also have a case worker to help get people back on their feet by helping connect people to other necessary services.
The shelter is also responsible for the Angel Tree every Christmas and runs a daily soup kitchen for lunch every day of the year.
Sharing their message is important, according to Captain Johnny Horton.
“It’s important that they know that we have these resources available if they ever need them. But it’s also important to know that we are here serving 365 days a year and that we could always could use support from them, whether they volunteer time or make a financial contribution. So it’s important for them to understand that we’re here 365 days serving and we’re available for volunteers and for our services if needed,” said Horton.
The shelter also provides meal kit boxes to people in need on a weekly basis and even help locals pay for rent or utilities.
