Ryan Seacrest named as new host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’

(CNN) – Ryan Seacrest will replace Pat Sajak as the new host of “Wheel of Fortune.”

The game show made the announcement Tuesday.

Sajak confirmed earlier this month that the show’s 41st season, which begins in September, would be his last.

Seacrest will take over in 2024.

He said in a statement he is humbled to be taking the helm after Sajak’s legendary career that has lasted more than four decades.

Seacrest also mentioned one of his first jobs was hosting a Merv Griffin game show called “Click” 25 years ago.

He thanked Sony Pictures Television for the opportunity to be “Wheel of Fortune’s” new host.
