Ryan Quarles pledges medical marijuana legalization if elected as Governor
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Republican Governor candidate Ryan Quarles announced some big news this morning that he would enact if elected.
Quarles said that he will pledge to legalize medical marijuana in his first year as Governor.
Quarles wants the new law to be focused on three things. One, it would be a medical decision between a patient and their doctor. Secondly, use marijuana that is grown by Kentucky farmers so local hemp growers can benefit. And lastly, don’t tax medical marijuana- instead, treat it like other medicines.
Quarles has a personal connection to this case.
“My mom passed away two years ago from terminal ovarian cancer. She fought for seven years and she was courageous. And although she never asked for a cannabinoid derivative, I know a lot of patients out there, especially cancer patients and those facing end of life issues, may seek out the benefits of medicinal, therapeutic uses of the cannabis plant,” said Quarles.
Quarles said every week, his campaign will be rolling out big, bold ideas.
