According to a release by the Russellville Police Department, in April of 1999, a shooting occurred between East Third Street and East Fourth Street in Russellville.

Authorities say the shooting either took place around 11:55 p.m. on April 26 of that year or on or around midnight the next day, on April 27.

The victim, identified as Glenn Shaffer, was a known resident of Russellville, according to police.

Shaffer had left the Minit Mart on First Street and Peyton Street around the times mentioned previously after buying cigarettes and bubble gum, police say. Authorities say the clerk stated that when Shaffer left, he was walking toward East Second Street.

Just after the gunshot, authorities say Russellville Dispatch spoke to a person stating a man had been shot and that he was at 562 East Second Street.

At the time of the call, authorities say the victim was still alive.

After medical assistance arrived, authorities say the victim was transported to the Logan Memorial Hospital before being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound.

According to police, the weapon used in the case was never found.

After searching a large area, police say the victim’s wallet was found in the daylight hours between East Third Street and East Fourth Street.
