Russellville man charged with DUI in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Russellville man is facing charges related to operating a motor vehicle under the influence on Wednesday.

According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department stopped a red Chevy truck on Industrial Bypass N around 3:25 a.m.

Police say the truck did not stop for a flagman holding a sign for construction on KY 1008 with several workers present.

The driver was identified as Alexander Bayles, 25, of Russellville.

While talking to Bayles, police say they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage, and the driver’s eyes were glassy.

Bayles also had slurred speech, according to police.

After field sobriety tests, Bayles was arrested.

He is charged with disregarding a stop sign, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, first offense, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, second-degree wanton endangerment and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first offense.
