Russellville man charged with attempted murder, arson after house fire

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Russellville man is charged with attempted murder after allegedly setting a home on fire.
According to a release, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Russellville Rural Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 6:33 p.m. Thursday at 199 Hancock Lake Road.
Deputies say they learned 58-year-old Rodney Belcher of Russellville intentionally set fire to multiple locations in the home using a torch.
Authorities say two people were inside of the home during this time.
The sheriff’s office states it located Belcher at his home. Belcher was arrested without further incident.
He remains at the Logan County Detention Center and is charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree arson, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment and drug-related offenses.
Deputies were assisted also by the Russellville Police Department, Logan County ECC and Logan County Chaplain Service.
