Russellville man accused of pretending to be firefighter at traffic crash scene

GLASGOW, Ky.- A man who authorities say was impersonating a firefighter was arrested Wednesday in Barren County.

Trenton Powell, 21, of Russellville, is charged with multiple offenses, including impersonating a public servant and possession or use of a radio that sends or receives police messages.

According to an arrest citation, Barren County deputies responded to a traffic crash on Morrison Park Road on Wednesday.

Deputies say Powell was on the scene claiming to be a volunteer firefighter with the East Barren Volunteer Fire Department.

Authorities say Powell had also closed down the road to traffic.

According to the arrest citation, the responding deputy had received complaints of Powell responding to calls all over the county.

Deputies say Powell had emergency lights on his vehicle that flashed red as well as a police scanner.

Powell was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
