Russellville High School’s Culinary program holds ribbon cutting for new facility
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Tuesday afternoon, the Russellville High School Culinary program held a ribbon-cutting, unveiling its new facility.
The program’s new facility features several kitchens and appliances capable of preparing all sorts of meals.
The four-year-old program was formerly in the main school building and only had a few kitchens and stoves to work with. With this new facility, the 100 culinary students at Russellville High will receive an experience they won’t get anywhere else.
“Our board and our Superintendent came together and said, ‘We need to get something for these students to give them an experience they can’t have other places,” said Drew Teel, Principal of Russellville High School.
With this new facility, Russellville Culinary can offer opportunities on both the residential and commercial sides of the culinary program. This is something other schools in the area can’t offer, giving students at Russellville an increased experience.
“Kids are so excited to be here, to be cooking, to use this equipment that they would not have the opportunity to use anywhere else. And that’s what’s really awesome, because a lot of the culinary programs in our area with other schools just have one or the other. So, just a residential side or just a commercial side. And the fact that we have residential and commercial gives our kids opportunities they wouldn’t have elsewhere,” Teel added.
Russellville students in the culinary program are excited to use the new facilities and look forward to the opportunities that come with it.
