Russellville Fire Department receives Beautification Award for January

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – The Russellville Fire Department was recognized Monday afternoon with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Award for January.

The award is presented to local businesses and organizations that make visible improvements to their properties and contribute positively to the community.

The fire department has recently completed several upgrades to its station, including renovations to the kitchen area, the addition of an outdoor porch and the arrival of a new 100-foot fire truck.

Fire chief Cheryl Allen said the improvements and recognition mean a great deal to the department’s volunteers.

“The volunteers do not get paid for what they do, so having a fire station that they can be proud of and take ownership of is a big deal,” Allen said. “It’s like their paycheck when they can get new equipment, new fire gear or upgrades to the firehouse. It makes them want to be more involved and be a part of something bigger than they are.”

Allen said the upgrades not only improve day-to-day operations but also help boost morale among volunteers who dedicate their time to serving the community.
