Runners hit the ground for the Great Turkey 5k

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-The Great Turkey 5k run and Gobbler 3k walk took place Thursday morning at Kereiakes Park in Warren County.

Both races are in place to raise money for local track and cross-country teams in need of uniforms and equipment.

This marked 33rd year for the run.

The organizers of the event, the Bowling Green Running Club, hope it encourages more students to take up running.

For the club’s president Hank Campbell, it’s a great way to start off Thanksgiving.

“Through this community, our goal is to provide healthy opportunities for our community. We’re thankful for the community for supporting us,” Campbell said.

At the end of the 5k, runners drew raffle tickets for chances to win shirts, mugs  and Thanksgiving themed dishes.
