Roskoski named CUSA Field Athlete of the Week

Wku Track

DALLAS – WKU Track and Field’s Sophia Roskoski has been named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The sophomore pole vaulter was given the honor after her performance at the Bellarmine Classic on Jan. 24.

On the honor pole vault coach Lauren Zaglifa said “Sophia’s back to back PR’s speak for themselves on the type of athlete she is. She put in the work over break and hasn’t stopped. Every practice, every drill, every correction is analyzed and fixed with precision and a big smile. She’s on a hot streak, we’re going to keep working and excited to hopefully continue it in Alabama.”

In the single day meet, Roskoski took the victory in the pole vault, clearing 3.97 meters (13-00 ¼). This not only gave her first place but is also a personal best for the native of Stillwater, Minn. Her mark also stands at No. 92 in all of NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field this season.

Roskoski becomes the second Hilltopper in as many weeks to earn Field Athlete of the Week honors. She headlined a WKU team over the weekend that saw 14 new personal records and six first place finishers.

She is the first Female Field Athlete of the Week for WKU since Katie Isenbarger earned the nod last season. Roskoski is also the first indoor recipient since Isenbarger got the honor on Feb. 8 of 2022.
