RockBox Fitness celebrates Memorial Day with 15th annual Murph workout

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Monday, RockBox Fitness and Sweat Studio held its 15th annual Memorial Day Murph community workout. Dozens of all ages showed up at the Atomic Kitchen.

From a one-mile run, to 300 squats, organizers say that this event is to respect and to train like the champions who served our country.

Seaton Sheldon, the owner of RockBox Fitness and Sweat Studio said, “I want to make sure that this is not some race or trying to do some personal record of any kind, but more of a memorial to remember those who have fallen and it’s a great Memorial Day. It’s definitely meant to be hard.”

The Murph is one mile, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and then one final mile.

The name “Murph” comes from Navy Lieutenant Michael Murph, who was killed in Afghanistan while trying to save his group of men.

“It definitely is tough, but it teaches us, one everybody can go at their own pace and it’s more about competition than anything and we’re excited we get to move our bodies and be outside today,” Sheldon said.

If you missed today’s event, look forward to Rock Box Fitness’s Fourth of July community workout.
