Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center choses official logo designed by Glasgow veteran
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center is getting ready to open its doors soon and has now chosen an official logo for the veterans center.
There are a few veterans centers around Kentucky, and each has its own unique logo. The logo chosen by the Robert E. Spiller staff was designed by U.S. Marine Sgt. Jonny Sherbert of Glasgow.
One administrator with the veterans center says that, out of dozens of submissions, Sherbert’s was the best one.
Jason Gumm, administrator of the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center, says, “We all went in and looked at the selections. And this one, this one one hands down. So this was this was by far the most popular one and the one we were most excited about, we thought represented well.”
The logo will now forever be associated with the veterans center, proudly displayed for those who enter the building.
Sherbert says that he is honored to not just be chosen but to be a part of a place that will honor those who served our country.
Sherbert says, “So with that being in history now, like it’s forever going to be there. My great-grandchildren are going to be like, ‘my great-grandfather, you know, made that coin and his name is in history engraved and in the military’s history as well,’ even though it wasn’t what I signed up to do, at least I made a name for myself that would carry on.”
Challenge coins will also be made with the logo’s likeness and will be handed to those who have accomplished difficult tasks.
Those at the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center are excited to have a design that represents all the veterans that will pass through its doors.
