Road improvement, bridge construction project to begin in Green, Metcalfe

BOWLING GREEN, Ky – A major road improvement project is set to begin this week.
According to a release, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 will begin construction of a roadway project to improve safety and mobility along a section of U.S. 68 in Green and Metcalfe counties.
KYTC says road signs will be in place and most of the project work will be away from the roadway.
The project will realign U.S. 68 from near KY 729 in Green County to KY 745 in Metcalfe County, according to the release.
1.2 miles of new alignment includes 11-foot travel lanes with 4-foot paved shoulders. The project will reduce curvature and grade variations.
The project includes the construction of a new bridge over Caney Fork Creek.
KYTC says the project totals $9.8 million and is expected to be completed by winter 2027.
