Rich Pond Engineering wins big at National Beta Convention
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A group of local students represented Warren County and South Central Kentucky on a national stage.
The Engineering Team from Rich Pond Elementary placed 4th in the National Beta Convention’s competition in Savannah, Georgia back in June.
A team of 5 sixth graders competed in the Junior Engineering division, after coming in 4th in the state competition.
The competition tasks teams with completing a build in real-time. The teams can only bring items from a predetermined list to the competition. With no building beforehand, and no plans to go off of, this tests the team’s ability to problem solve, use communication and cooperate to complete the build in 40 minutes.
During the award ceremony, Rich Pond was the only named elementary school to finish in the top 5 in the nation.
Sponsor Kristy Johnson and students Will Reed, Caleb Massey, Isabella Rosa, Maddie Lee & Eli Willingham made up the team.
The 5 students say they hope to stay together when they go to South Warren Middle School!
A big congratulations to the Rich Pond Engineering Team on this huge accomplishment!
