Ribbon cutting celebrates completion of I-65 interchange in Hardin County

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear joined state and local officials Friday to mark the completion of the new Interstate 65/Highway 222 interchange in Hardin County with a ribbon cutting.
Officials say this project was a design over a decade in the making.
With this new interchange, more vehicles can pass through the area, benefitting those in Glendale, Kentucky and near the BlueOVal SK battery plant site.
“Good infrastructure is a must to ensure safe roads for our Kentucky families,” Beshear said. “The new interchange not only supports the ongoing construction of the BlueOval SK battery plants, it will also handle the future influx of commuters benefiting from the good-paying jobs this historic investment is creating.”
The Highway 222 bridge on I-65 opened on Dec. 16, paving the way for improved road congestion.
Officials say it also addresses previous safety concerns and connectivity to U.S. 31-W on the east side of the interstate, along with improved safety and access toward the Glendale community.
Now open and operational, the governor’s office states final touches will be completed over the next several weeks.
