Reward offered after postal carriers robbed in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Officials in Louisville are searching for answers after three U.S. postal carriers were robbed at gunpoint on the same day.
Three men are believed to have been involved in the robberies.
Now, postal inspectors are asking for the public’s help to identify the remaining suspects and are offering up to $150,000 to anyone with information that could lead to an arrest in this case.
WAVE reports new security video shows the moments an armed, masked robber held a Louisville mail carrier at gunpoint.
After a brief struggle, the robber makes off with the worker’s postal keys.
United States Postal Service inspectors say this suspect and two other men robbed three separate mail carriers in just 30 minutes, with the first robbery happening just after noon on Nov. 25 on Hartlage Court, the second at 12:20 p.m. near Crittenden Drive and the third at 12:30 p.m. on Cypress Street.
Postal inspector Jeff Sagrecy says his office will usually see two or three postal carrier robberies a year, so to have three robberies in just a half hour came as a shock.
Sagrecy says in all three robberies, the carrier’s postal keys were stolen.
Sagrecy says, “A lot of times they’re looking for checks from businesses and individuals that they can then alter and fraudulently negotiate with financial institutions.”
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service shared the security video on social media, asking for anyone with tips to come forward.
The suspects were seen wearing black clothing and driving a white Audi sedan with a stolen Kentucky license plate.
Sagrecy says any information, no matter how small, could be the key to making an arrest.
