UPDATE: Body of retired special forces veteran who allegedly shot wife found

UPDATE (5/6/26) – According to a social media post, the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation located the body of Craig Berry.
Authorities say Berry shot his wife during a domestic dispute. Berry was the subject of a manhunt.
The post states that the initial investigation shows that Berry died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. – The Stewart County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office is continuing the manhunt for a man who allegedly shot his wife.
SCSO says Craig Berry, a retired special forces veteran, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife on May 1 when he allegedly shot her in Dover, Tennessee.
Berry fled into the woods before authorities arrived at the scene on Old Paris Highway. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities say Berry was last seen on a trail camera near River Trace Road wearing camouflage.
Berry, a white male, is considered “an excellent swimmer” and possesses at least one handgun and ammunition.
SCSO says it is working with the U.S. Marshall’s Service to conduct detailed searches from River Trace Road to Highway 79 to parts of Highway 232 this week.
Berry is currently charged with second-degree attempted murder.
Authorities ask anyone wth knowledge of Berry’s whereabouts to call 911.
