Retired cyber police officer speaks on data breaches

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s a scary thought to think that your personal information might have been stolen and unfortunately there isn’t much to do but react appropriately.
The data breach that occurred recently with Change Healthcare affected local healthcare provider Graves-Gilbert Clinic. News 40 spoke to Art McFadden about this incident who is a retired internet crimes officer and now teaches computer information technology at Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College.
McFadden told us that the best thing to do is to stay on top of any online account you have as well as run credit reports often. McFadden said due to that breach, free credit checks are being offered for the next 2 years and he suggests using http://annualcreditreport.com and breaking the year into thirds as the website allows for one check per bureau every year.
