PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — Work to restore a historic Kentucky theater is moving forward. The Paducah Sun reports a grant from the city helped stabilize the roof to prevent water damage inside Paducah’s Columbia Theatre. Another $10,000 grant has come in from the BRU-Bruckheimer Fund of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Already, the restoration efforts have uncovered a pair of stained glass panels from 1927, still in excellent condition. The Columbia Art House board estimates the first phase of the project will cost about $1.5 million. The group continues to seek funding in order to preserve the theater for future generations.
