Residents report fertilizer pellets raining down on property

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tuesday, several governmental officials were contacted from citizens in the area of Briarwood, Hartland, and Bent Tree subdivisions in Bowling Green, regarding suspicious fertilizer pellets in their yards.

Through investigation, officials from the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport and Emergency Management were able to locate the pilot that was performing fertilizing crop dusting operations.

It has been confirmed that the product is Urea 46-0-0 and is not harmful to animals or people, according to a release the Bowling Green Warren County Airport. This product can be compared to a residential fertilizer but is less potent and will dissolve quickly with dew or rain.

The cause of spillage is still under investigation by airport officials. If you have questions, call the airport office at 270-842-1101.

“The purpose of this release is to share information quickly with the public and to assure homeowners that the product is safe and harmless to people and household pets,” the release reads.
