Reports: 2020 Cayman Islands Classic Cancelled

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Unfortunately, Rick Stansbury and the Western Kentucky HIlltoppers won’t be soaking up the sun like originally planned this November as the 2020 Cayman Islands Classic has been cancelled, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Initial field included Kansas State, Western Kentucky, Nevada, Oregon State, La Salle, Miami, Ole Miss, and Northern Iowa.

The early-season tournament had already been moved from the Cayman Islands to Niceville, Florida due to Covid-19 concerns, but the decision to cancel altogether was made on Monday night.

WKU was slated to be one of eight teams featured in the initial tournament field, but will now pursue other options to kick off their 2020-21 season.
