Rep. Guthrie’s robocall legislation advances

WASHINGTON, D.C.- South central Kentucky Rep. Brett Guthrie is one of several lawmakers from both sides of the aisle attempting to put an end to those annoying robocalls.

The Republican is a cosponsor of the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act.

The legislation will require phone carriers to implement call authentication technology, allow carriers to offer call blocking services to consumers and direct the FCC to protect consumers from calls they did not agree to receive.

The bill unanimously passed the Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday and now heads to the full House for a vote.

Guthrie said the number one thing he hears about from his constituents is robocalls.
