Rep. Guthrie says energy execs aren’t responsible for high gas prices
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Catching you up on a story News 40 has brought you before…the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee met to discuss the energy crisis.
News 40 talked to Representative Brett Guthrie, who was at the meeting. He says democrats requested the meeting to question oil and gas executives about price gouging as Americans face high prices at the gas pump.
There was no evidence found that the executives were price gouging and they swore under oath that they were not doing anything to manipulate the price.
Guthrie says he thought that would be the case and says he thinks the high prices are because we are not expanding oil production in the U.S.
“The price is up because of what happened in Ukraine but it was going up even more because of decisions the Biden administration had made. So once you take production offline in America you’re more vulnerable to dictators and that’s where we are,” said Guthrie.
Guthrie said he will be pushing for the committee to have another meeting soon.
