Rep. Andy Barr comments on US airstrikes on Iran
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The United States bombed Iranian nuclear facilities this past weekend, and when Kentucky U.S. Rep. Andy Barr was in Bowling Green on Friday, before the bombing, News 40 asked him if the president would need congressional approval to enter into a war between Israel and Iran.
Here is the answer:
Barr said, “President’s commander-in-chief powers give him existing authority. But I’m willing and would be willing to provide him additional authorities as the president if needs them or requests them in order to give him more leverage in his negotiations to denuclearize Iran. Israel’s enemies are our enemies. When the tyrants in Tehran say that they want to annihilate the state of Israel, in the same breath, they chant Death to America. This is an American national security issue to make sure that we eliminate Iran’s nuclear capability.”
News 40 will continue to provide the latest updates on this conflict as they become available.
