Remembering Dr. Abraham Williams with Ryan Dearbone

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – We’re remembering an iconic figure of the Bowling Green community who passed away recently.

Dr. Abraham Williams, longtime executive director of the Housing Authority of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday night.

For years, he was a public servant who helped put thousands of underprivileged people in homes in Bowling Green.

On Thursday, October 3rd, Abraham was honored for his years of achievement with a roast & toast retirement dinner, which raised $100,000 for the WROTE Foundation. It enhances educational opportunities for the children of Housing Authority residents.

We spoke to Ryan Dearbone, a longtime friend of Williams who talked about the legacy Abraham leaves behind.

“He loved the people in Bowling Green. He loved the people that he got to serve… and I think that’s his legacy, is that he loved the people and he served the people. He would always say everyone can be great because everyone can serve,” he says.

Williams was 75 years old. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends during this difficult time.
