Remember to cancel vaccine appointment if you’ve already had it someplace else

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Med Center Health wants to remind people that they should cancel their vaccine appointments, if they have already received the vaccine somewhere else.

They have had a large volume of people forgetting to cancel appointments. This takes up a spot for someone who hasn’t yet gotten their vaccine.

This is caused by people making multiple appointments at various vaccine sites and going to the first one available. Melinda Joyce, Corporate Director of Pharmacy says this is fine for people to make multiple appointments to get a vaccine as quickly as possible, but to make sure to contact the Med Center to cancel the appointment with them if no longer needed.

Joyce said when this happens they try to call the next people in line to get the vaccine, but can’t always reach them that day. She said it also causes problems with volunteer numbers.

“You know we base all our volunteers on how many places we have available to give administrations of the vaccine, the number of people needed to make and prepare the vaccines, all of that is based on our schedule. So when we have people that don’t show up, it changes all of that scheduling,” said Joyce.

Joyce said that every day they are giving out over 900 vaccines, and it’s great to see a lot of the population getting vaccinated.
