Remaining safe amid possible flooding
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- With the spring season being full of severe weather, remaining safe, especially with the possibility of flooding, is a top priority.
Flooding is one of the top causes of road-related accidents. It only takes 2 inches of rain to move a vehicle, and if you aren’t cautious when it comes to flooding, you won’t just affect yourself.
Travis Puckett, the deputy director of Warren County Emergency Management, says, “When it becomes too flooded roadways and people trying to cross those roadways, you don’t only put yourself in danger, you put the first responders in danger that are coming to you, and that is the leading cause of death during flooding. Events are people who are trapped in flood waters, in their vehicles. ”
Remembering key tips like charging your phone and letting those close to you know when you plan to get on the roads during severe weather can save your life.
