Region 3 golf tournaments conclude, semi-state qualifiers revealed
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Earlier this week, the KHSAA Boy’s and Girl’s Region 3 golf tournaments wrapped up in the area, with multiple teams and individuals qualifying for semi-state.
On the girl’s side, Monday at the Willow Oaks Golf Club in Glasgow, the Bowling Green Lady Purples claimed their first team title in 20 years with a 35-over-par finish, while Barren County came in right behind at second.
Individually, Lady Purple Caroline Childers placed first for the second consecutive year at regionals and Trojanette Chloe Witcher shot a 76 to finish third.

On the boy’s side at Crosswinds Golf Course, the Greenwood Gators claimed the Region 3 title with a 16-over-par performance, while Bowling Green placed second.
On the individual leaderboard, after birdying three of the last four holes in regulation, Rowdy Harris sent this tournament into a playoff for first place with Griffin Jackson, and it was the Purple to take the victory in the end, while Jackson placed second and Greenwood’s Layton Richey claimed third.
