Referee recruitment for Warren County Parks & Rec set for Oct. 21

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Parks & Recreation department is looking for new officials for their upcoming sports seasons.

The recruitment effort will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the gymnasium at Michael Buchanon Park.

Parks staff are looking for referees and umpires for all 12 of their sports.

Candy will also be provided for the little ones, so the whole family can look forward to something at the park.

Staff do ask one thing of anyone interested in officiating:

“All that we ask is this is a youth oriented league. These are youth oriented leagues. So we’re just asking for people that realize it is a game and want to really develop these kids in their progression from these little league to, if they continue or if this is their only stop… we just want somebody that’s interested in that,” Jade Grabeel, operations manager for Warren County Parks & Rec, says.

A recent referee shortage has impacted all leagues, including those run by Warren County Parks & Rec, so they are desperately looking for new officials that want to help out.
