Red Cross blood drives being hosted in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Giving the gift of life is as simple as donating a few pints of blood, and the American Red Cross gave that opportunity Wednesday at the Holiday Inn University Plaza.

Dozens stopped by to donate their blood to help save the lives of others.

The American red Cross says that during the month of May, they experienced a 20,000 donation shortfall, which is leading hospitals and doctors to make tough decisions when it comes to giving blood to those who may need it.

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, one donation can save up to three lives, however, only 3% of age eligible adults in the United States give blood each year. If you would like to donate your blood, there is still plenty of dates you can do it.

June 21, 26, and 28, the American Red Cross will hold blood donations at the Holiday Inn University Plaza and Sloan Convention Center from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

You can show up the day of or make an appointment here.
