Record-breaking Memorial Day travel expected

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- With Memorial Day weekend right around the corner, tons of people are going to be traveling. According to AAA, a record-breaking 45 million Americans are expected to hit the road.

That’s a significant increase from previous years, signaling a strong return to pre-pandemic travel habits.

AAA spokesperson Lynda Lambert says, “We definitely are back to strong travel numbers and strong travel sentiment post-pandemic.”

She adds that 39 million of those travelers will be driving, with lower gas prices playing a major role. These favorable conditions are encouraging more families to kick off their summer with a road trip. Travel trends this year show Americans are eager to explore again.

If you’re planning your first road trip of the season, expect crowded highways. Make sure to plan ahead—and pack some patience.
