Realtors Hope for Homeless event aims to raise over 600,000 servings of food

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One of the consistent concerns in Kentucky is families not being able to feed themselves.

One local Realtor association will be holding an event with a goal of raising over 600,000 servings of food.

The Realtor Association of Southern Kentucky event, Realtors Hope for Homeless,  helps stock the shelves at Hotel Inc.’s Manna Mart food pantry for families in need.

During this three-day event April 26, 27 and 28,  Realtors will collect hygiene items, monetary and food donations. Any business that wants to contribute can set up a collection bin during the month of April to collect food to donate to the cause.

The event also helps raise awareness of homelessness and food insecurity.

Over 400,00 servings of food were given to summer food programs at 28 schools in Bowling Green/Warren County.

Other counties receiving food were Allen, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, and Simpson counties.

The event chair, Beth Wheeler, said this is all possible due to our giving communities.

Currently, Wheeler is collecting sponsorships to turn that money into food.

Western Kentucky University’s Greek life also contributes to the event, donating 65,000 servings of food last year.
