Readifest school supply drive turns into drive-thru event

CAVE CITY, Ky.- A local school held an annual school supply drive Thursday with a twist.

Cars lined up Thursday morning at Caverna Elementary School during the 20th annual Readifest. The event also took place at the middle and high schools.

Normally, this school supply drive is held indoors, but it was changed to an outdoor drive-thru event due to Covid-19.

Members of the family resource youth service center were masked as they handed out supplies like backpacks, notebooks and even food.

School faculty were joined by members of a local church, along with the Cave City Police and Fire Departments.

As of Aug. 6, the first day back for students in the Caverna Independent School District is Aug. 25.
