Read Across America kicks off early in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- The annual Read Across America Day got off to an early start Thursday in Bowling Green.

Read Across America Day always takes place on March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’s birthday, a day in which 45 million Americans are expected to pick up a book and read, but Thursday at the Foundry in Bowling Green, volunteer from Trace Die Cast came out to read to the children, spreading their love of reading.

The Foundry Education Director, Susan McCloud, says she’s very grateful that Bowling Green has put such an emphasis on literacy.

“I’m just so grateful to live in a community like Bowling Green who emphasizes things like literacy. They recognize immediately the importance of it,” said McCloud.

On March 1, more reading sessions will take place in the area at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary, Liberty Kids Daycare, and Emmanuel Daycare.
