Random Acts of Kindness Week at Natcher Elementary
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-It’s just one week, but staff at Natcher Elementary are hoping it makes a lifetime impact.
“This week, February 13th through the 18th is national random acts of kindness week,” said School Counselor John Swack.
Natcher Elementary decided to implement the nationally celebrated week with their students.
“Random acts of kindness are celebrated this week but it’s something that hopefully will go on every day, not just this week, but we’re gonna be kind every day, week, and all year,” said Swack.
From helping their teachers in the classroom, to lending a hand at home, students are focused on doing nice things for others.
“I’ve cleaned my room, I had a party for the Super Bowl and hung out with little kids, and helped with my baby brother,” said 4th grade student Cora Partington.
“I’m working on programming a game for my dad’s birthday,” said 6th grade student Samuel Dame.
To make the week even more fun, there’s a competitive twist.
“The idea is if you look up here you’ll see a chain. And we’re just writing down our acts of kindness and we’re just gonna see how far the chain will go. We’re trying to beat the primary hallway,” said Dame.
They’re hoping the chain of loops will make it all the way around the school.
The students say that Natcher Elementary is something special.
“Every student is involved in something at our school and it’s something that I really like about it,” said Dame.
