Railroad projects by CSX will temporarily close portion of Russellville Road, other roads

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.  Railroad maintenance projects by CSX are expected to temporarily close multiple railroad crossings in Simpson and Warren Counties beginning next week. The dates and time period given by CSX are estimates and are subject to change.

A railroad project by CSX will temporarily close U.S. 68 Russellville Road at the railroad underpass near the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green during evening hours.

The road is expected to close July 6, 7, 8, 12, 13 and 14 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The work schedule is subject to change.

A signed detour utilizing U.S. 231 and Old Morgantown Road will be in place.

Other railroad projects in Warren and Simpson counties include:

  • KY 240 (mile point 6.2) – CSX Railroad is expected to close the railroad crossing on or around July 14 or 15. The closure is supposed to take place overnight and the crossing be open during the day. The work schedule is subject to change.
  • KY 884 (mile point 0.9) – CSX Railroad is expected to close the railroad crossing on or around July 15 or 16. The closure is supposed to take place overnight and the crossing be open during the day. The work schedule is subject to change.
  • KY 242 (mile point 4.2)- CSX Railroad is expected to close the railroad crossing on or around July 8. The closure is supposed to take place overnight and the crossing be open during the day. The work schedule is subject to change.
  • KY 1434 in Simpson County (mile point 0.4) – CSX railroad is expected to close the railroad crossing. CSX has not given an exact date, but it the closure is expected to happen on or near July 8. The crossing will be closed overnight and opened during the day.
