RailPark Museum hosts students for Polar Express field trip

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If kids from Dishman-McGinnis school weren’t excited for Christmas already, they are now.
That’s after being immersed in the splendor of the Polar Express experience.
Of course what better place than at the local RailPark and Train Museum.
That’s where kindergarteners from Dishman-McGinnis Elementary school took a field trip earlier this morning.
For 16 years, students have been given the Polar Express experience.
Kids got to see the Polar Express toy train go around the track as it blew its realistic horn.
They also were led onto the real RailPark train by a Conductor to hear the Polar Express story read aloud.
There was also coloring of paper trains and legos to play with.
The students were also served cookies and chocolate milk.
Several years ago, the Warren County Public Library saw there were kids missing out on this magical event.
So they opened it up to area schools for field trip days, like today.
Monica Edwards with WCPL tells us more than 200 kids will fill the RailPark for the Polar Express field trip next Tuesday.
There is a nighttime experience, where kids and adults can wear their pajamas, just like in the movie.
Santa Clause was also on the train and gave kids their own magical bells to take home.
