R.E. Stevenson Elementary looks to help out with Tennessee flood donations drive

RUSSELLVILLE Ky.- A local elementary school is working to provide flood relief to the state of Tennessee through the gift of supplies.

R.E. Stevenson Elementary School in the Russellville Independent School District is sponsoring the Tennessee flood donations to aid in relief efforts. Items include wipes, formula, non-perishable food items, and hygiene products to name a few.

This donation drive started Thursday and will run through Friday September 10. Items can be dropped off at Stevenson Elementary during normal school hours.

Principal Heather Carden says item donations have already come in, and it shows how much the community is willing to band together.

“Russellville is one of the places with the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen. Anytime there’s someone in need, they’re always willing to help and go that extra mile. The fact that we organized this drive just on Thursday and have already had items dropped off shows me what big hearts they have, and how much they love everybody, not just the people of Russellville,” Carden said.

School supplies like books, markers, and crayons for example are also being taken in for donations, as another goal is to help schools get relieved as well.
