Pursuit leads to fugitive, drug arrest in Daveiss County

DAVEISS Co., Ky.- A man is behind bars facing over a dozen drug-related charges following a police pursuit Wednesday. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says they heard from officials that 43-year-old Demario Sanders was wanted in Christian County. Daviess County deputies initiated a traffic stop, initially being pulled over on JR Miller Road.

However, Sanders then fled toward Ohio County on U.S. 231. The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and Hartford Police Department were advised by the Owensboro-Daveiss County Central Dispatch to deploy spike strips near Hartford. This caused Sanders to stop on U.S. 231 near West Render Street. He was then arrested.

During a search of Sander’s vehicle, an Ohio County K-9 unit alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs. Deputies then found a trafficking amount of cocaine and a large amount of U.S. currency. All evidence has been seized, and Sanders is now lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
