Purples cruise past University Heights in Sweet 16 Opening Round
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Turner Buttry scored a game-high 20 points and Region 4 Player of the Year Isaiah Mason added a steady 16 points and 6 boards as the Bowling Green Purples dominated University Heights 85-57 in the Sweet 16 Opening Round.
Buttry’s 20-point performance was highlighted by a 70-foot buzzer-beater that gave the Purples a 42-28 advantage at the halftime break.
Bowling Green continued their tenacious style of lockdown defense against UHA, which played a big role in the successful outcome.
Head coach D.G Sherrill is victorious in his return to the Sweet 16 Tournament as he looks to guide his team to another state championship at Rupp Arena.
The Purples advance to the Sweet 16 Quarterfinals, where they will face either Madison Central or Ballard on Friday at 1 p.m. CST.
