Project 330 breaks ground in Scottsville for new community center
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A project that has been in the works for years has finally seen a groundbreaking this afternoon in Allen County.
Project 330, a new recreation center behind The Core in Scottsville, has been developing since around 2019. COVID put a halt to those plans, but over the last few years, the community has raised funds to get the building process underway.
Just today, staff found out there is going to be a ten thousand dollar anonymous donation, which will help further one of their goals of having the center paid off by the ribbon cutting date… but they didn’t even think they’d get close to the amount of money they already have, and that’s thanks to the community.
“When we were looking at it, we’re thinking ‘There’s no way… we had a million dollar match from the Laura Goad Turner Charitable Foundation’ but we’re thinking ‘Can we raise a million dollars here in this little community of Allen County?’ So we worked hard raising… we thought it’s going to be three years before… we actually said that it’d be three years before we broke ground. We actually broke ground three weeks ago, and it’s still barely a little over two years,” Ernie Stafford, director of The Core of Scottsville, says.
The plan is for the building to be complete in the next few months. You can either donate in person or over the phone.
