Prior Greenwood High School student taking on Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Every year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is filled with massive floats and talent from all over the world.

One part of the parade is giving talented students from across the United States the chance to show off their skills with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. Thanks to a talented Kentucky native, this year, the band is hearing the music of someone who spent some high school years in Bowling Green.

Ethan Thomson, a trumpet player in the marching band, was selected for this life-changing experience. He tells us what this means to him.

Thomson says, “It’s really, it just makes me feel a whole lot happier. It makes me feel really good about myself and getting better every day and moments like these where when I try super hard to get somewhere and I actually make it, it just makes playing trumpet a whole lot better.”

Thomson’s success is not stopping at the Macy’s Day Parade. He plans to teach music and be a part of more national bands.
